Cambodia: Renewable Energy & Sustainable Development
Cambodia has considerably expended its electrics supply during late few decades. However, only twelvepercent of total population has accessed topower grid while about ninety one percentof people living in rural area still lack of grid-based electricity service; in that, power generation serving inrural arearemains under demands.

Since the country has been made a lot of progress with significant growth of GDP, Cambodia is considered as one of the lowest electrified countries with only about 50 kWh per year per capita. The cost of electricity accounts from 0.08 USD/kWh to 0.15 USD/kWh as distributed by government services and can be even much higher by small private power producers. Read more

biomass gasification Renewable Energy projects in Cambodia

Renewable energy resources have been identified throughout the country with a very large potential comparing to the total demand ofrural households. There are experiences in the region and in Cambodia as well with small grids based on renewable energy or designed as hybrid systems, i.e. the combination of a conventional energy source (diesel generator) with one or several renewable sources. Examples can be found in combination with photovoltaic, hydropower (small or micro), wind turbines or biomass (gasification to deliver producer gas and/or biodiesel production both for use in engines-generators).
